Turn out the lights.
Roll Camera.
Begin overly dramatic music.
The screen flashes with this weeks movies titles in Cadillac-sized glowing letters -

THE VIRGIN BOYFRIEND MONSTER ATTACK FROM OUTER SPACE

RAMPAGE OF THE COED WITH AND THE UNCHAINED THING

MURDER OF THE SPACE BRAIN ZOMBIE PAGANS

Do these sound like B-Movie titles?
Are you psyched yet?
How about this?

THE NIGHT OF THE EDJUMICATED SUBTERANNEAN SWARM

ZOMBIE VIRGIN BOYFRIENDS MURDER COED THINGS

SATANIC MASSACRE IN THE HOUSE OF DEMONS

Do you feel Ed Wood Lurking in the wings? Can you hear the William Shatner - Leonard Nimoy harmonies as the soundtrack? Do these sound like B-Movies?

They should, because these titles come from some of the hands I recently played in the non-collectible card game called Graverobbers From Outer Space - the game that strives to become the B-Movie you've wanted to see, but never believed possible. The game allows you to produce, direct and act out a B-Movie as you battle an opponent's B-Movie, each of you trying to out-B each other.

As the creators at Z-Man Games say - 'Bad acting, poor special effects, and a plot with a thousand holes. These ingredients make up the B-movies you love to hate and hate to love. Now you and your friends can create your own B-movies with Grave Robbers From Outer Space, the soda and popcorn card game that pays homage to the great turkeys you stay up late to watch.'

To win the game, one needs to finish with the most points. At the end of the game, points are garnered by characters, props and defensive cards still in play. The person with the highest number wins.

But the fun of this game is not in the winning, but in the playing

There's nothing like having Subterranean Cannibals eat Mom, Dog Skip, and the Coed Science Major as they sit huddling in the Basement of the Abandoned Building.

It's amazing to watch Dracula again and again suck blood from the high school principal all-the-while surrounded by the complex computers of the Alien Headquarters.

When the blob slips over and suffocates the Military Officer, the Spoiled Little Rich Girl, and the Guy Everyone Knows Will Get Killed, you literally jump and cheer their demise.

And even the Big Dumb Jock, the Babbysitter and the Cop with a flamethrower and a chainsaw can't stop the Mummy if they're in the Tomb.

Each hand includes an appropriate location, special effect cards, prop cards, character cards, and creature cards. Every game is different, because of the shuffle of the deck. I've played this game with 11 year olds. I've played this game with 50 year olds. This game is not some Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon, or Yu-Gi-Oh wannabe where the person with the most money wins. This game is an original. This game is fun. You never need buy another card.

This game is what Sam Raimi, Ed Wood, your favorite scream queen, the Blob, Body Snatcher Pod People, the Armies of Darkness and Ultraman would play should they every get together for a weenie roast.

Technical Specifications:

  • 120 cards packaged in a dual-deck sized box
  • Stand-alone game; no need to collect
  • Running time: 20-40 minutes
  • For 2 or more players
  • Most used quote - "Say, is that a tentacle?"
