Movie Maniacs 3 Edward Scissorhands Prototype
Click on the image to see a full view of McFarlane Toys' Edward Scissorhands. Edward joins The Fly and the rest of the previously announced roster of Ash from Sam Raimi's Army of Darkness, Snake Plissken of Escape from L.A. fame and The Thing from John Carpenter's movie of the same name. McFarlane Toys is in negotiations for the final character of the Movie Maniacs III line. We'll let you know when we hear more.

Rob Zombie Immortalized with Action Figure
McFarlane Toys first brought us KISS figures, then an amazing Ozzy action figure and now the king of Hellbilly himself, Rob Zombie. McFarlane Toys looks both forward and back in 2000 with the additions of Rob Zombie, '60s icon Janis Joplin and horror rock legend Alice Cooper.

Rob Zombie's figure is expected in stores in spring 2000 and will be fully articulated and detailed right down to the dreadlocks. The figure comes with a skull and stone base and a Zombie diorama.

"What we're trying to convey with him, just like we did with Ozzy, is just to sort of go, 'Who is Rob Zombie?' He's a freak, too, right? And you've just got to capture the freak part of it,," McFarlane recently told MTV News. Both the Cooper and Joplin figures will follow later in 2000.

Jason Spelled Wrong in New McFarlane 2-Pack?
Action Online's McFarlane Guide reprots McFarlane Toys may have misspelled Jason's last name on his gravestone in the new KayBee exclusive 2-pack. The set, which also includes Nightmare on Elm Street's Freddy, has the name spelled "Vorhese" on the version Action Online picked up. No word on whether they all look like this or if McFarlane Toys will issue a fix. If you've seen one of these and have a picture or know any more details, please drop us a line.

Clive Barker's Latest Film Projects
Clive Barker was originally tapped to direct the Arnold flick End of Days but decided to pass. He recently told IGN magazine that he didn't regret that decision and he has a full load of film projects in the making. First up is the film adaptation of his 1992 novel The Thief of Always "It's in good shape," Barker said. "I have a meeting at Universal tomorrow (December 15) on that very thing. Though the issues we're looking at right now are exactly how it's going to be done. There is some argument as to whether it will be entirely CGI -- Toy Story style -- or a mixture of live action and CGI. Presumably we will make up our minds tomorrow."

Although Barker doesn't plan to direct Thief, he is working on a new film he will both write and direct. It's an as-yet-untitled horror project for New Line, rumored to be an American gothic horror tale.

Barker also mentioned another possibility to IGN regarding a future film project revolving around his groundbreaking collection of short horror fiction, the Books of Blood. "Those are written, actually," he verifies. "Bill Condon (director of Gods and Monsters, which Barker executive produced) has written one of them and it's tremendous."

And what about any new novels? Barker gave a glimpse of one of those too. He has plans to release a short novel on his experiences in Tinseltown. "I'm writing a short novel right now. It's a book about Hollywood...a book, which is primarily reality-based, that is to say that it doesn't go off to any alternative world or anything, but has a touch of the supernatural about it, but just a touch." We wouldn't expect anything less from our Hellraiser Hero.

Anthony Hopkins Singing On for Hannibal?

Blade's David Goyer Scripting Freddy vs. Jason?
Horror Online reports that during an online chat, Robert Englund, (Freddy Krueger) said that the film Freddy vs. Jason would "most definitely" be made. Englund went on to say the following: "The powers that be want this to be done right. They've already been in bed with, and consulted with, talents as diverse as Rob Bottin, the great special effects creator, as a potential director...the newest draft of Freddy vs. Jason is being readied by the screenwriter of one of my favorite films of two years ago, Blade. So scream it out on the Internet - the screenwriter of Blade is now doing the final draft of Freddy vs. Jason. I have been promised by the absolute power at New Line Cinema that we are going to start, at least in pre-production, in February! So we might have a Freddy 2000."

"I think Freddy vs. Jason is a new interpretation of the franchise, especially since New Line Cinema secured the rights to the Friday the 13th films," Englund said. "I'd imagine that this would be the finale. Though there might be more Friday the 13th films - I don't know. I've heard a rumor that there will be two endings to Freddy vs. Jason - Freddy will win in one, and Jason will win in another. And the audience will never know what ending they'll see, because they'll change the last reel."

Drop Dead Films Run Original Horror Novel On Site
Drop Dead Films, makers of the independent cult film The Good Book, today announced an on-line, on-going horror novel to its existing website.

A serialized novel, The BetweenTime, is the latest effort from writer/producer Barry Gerdsen, whose previous work includes low budget features The Good Book, The Day I Met My Mother, and Troma’s Studios Class of Nuke ‘Em High: Part 4.

"We’re really excited about this project," said Matthew Giaquinto, Founder and President of Drop Dead Films. "We’ve decided to push the envelope, not only with the technology, but also with something that challenges horror fans. Here is a story that has something intellectual to say while still retaining a visceral and violent impact."

Set in the not-too-distant future, The BetweenTime centers around a young author who accidentally unearths the truth behind the existence of God, while also awakening the insidious force that aims to destroy Him. "It’s a cross between The Matrix, End of Days and 12 Monkeys," says Giaquinto. "And so far, the response to it has been overwhelming."

The BetweenTime will be updated each week from December until June and can be found at http://www.dropdeadfilms.com. Go check it out and catch up with the first three chapters that are already posted.
