Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper reports teenage British actor Gabriel Thomson has been selected to play the role of wizard Harry Potter in a movie adaptation. The 13-year-old from south London played the part of young Pip in a BBC adaptation of Charles Dickens' Great Expectations last year. He has also worked with Brit-pack actor Jude Law in the up-coming movie Enemy at the Gate.
Warner Brothers refused to confirm whether or not they had found their Harry and said they would be announcing their decision via the Internet Aug. 21.
J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter novels, has so far confirmed only two of the film's cast members. Dame Maggie Smith is to play Harry's art teacher Professor McGonagall and heavyweight Scottish actor Robbie Coltrane is to take the part of Hagrid, the school's groundsman who befriends the young wizard.

The Mummy Wraps Up Shooting in UK
Dark Horizons reports a couple of reporters for Empire Online caught some shooting on
Tuesday night of The Mummy sequel. A bus chase scene was being shot in London's Lambeth Palace Road and has John Hannah's character stealing the bus in an attempt to save Fraser and son - only to end up crashing it into a bridge and ripping the entire top deck off. Also a part of the sequence is a 'This Is London' scene, with Big Ben
looming in the background and rain-machine generated sogginess". This bit, plus the stunt
on Sunday in which Fraser tries to scale the London Bridge as its closing, represent the last bits of filming in the UK.
Spawn 2 Development Ongoing
The Herald Sun reports (via Dark Horizons) that plans for the Spawn sequel are still in active development. Writer Leigh Paatsch says "New Line Films still maintain it's happening. The draft script, which one New Line executive describes as 'much darker, like Seven on acid,' looks likely to get the green light for the production!". Pretty much none of the actors from the first film will return as expected and in fact it'll probably ignore the events from the first movie altogether.

in Spring on Halloween 8 based on a script by Larry Brand (Masque of the Red Death,

Chucky Really Dead?
Esplatter reports (via Dark Horizons) that Don Mancini (Chucky screenwriter) told a crowd at the Fangoria Weekend of Horrors convention that the proposed "Bride of Chucky" sequel is history. He said the project is "dead in the water" with Universal seeing their entire horror roster as a "bastard step child" and in fact are a little embarassed that Bride of Chucky made so much for them.
Chucky ain't totally gone though, Mancini confirmed
he's working on a "Chucky vs. Freddy" project with New Line showing enthusiasm for the
idea. While 'Seed' may not hit the screen, Mancini had a story ready which would've had
Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly) trying to "prevent the baby from becoming a murderer like its mother and father by participating in 12-step groups over the phone, in an attempt to overcome her addiction to killing...Meanwhile, the baby would not have been anatomically correct, so it would have been faced with a major idenity crisis."
