Boreanaz, Furlong & Hopper Join The Crow
THR reports Dimension Films has tapped David Boreanaz, Edward Furlong, Dennis Hopper and Tara Reid to star in Wicked Prayer, the fourth installment of The Crow. Lance Mungia (Six-String Samurai) is directing the project, which goes into production in June.

Set in the Southwest, Prayer tells the story of ex-con Jimmy Cuervo (Furlong) and his girlfriend, Lily (Emmanuelle Chriqui), who are murdered by Luc Crash (Boreanaz) and his satanic gang Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse as part of a ritual for Crash to become an immortal demon. The rest of the gang is played by Chong, Ortiz and Reid, with Reid playing Crash's evil love interest.

Hopper plays El Nino who marries Crash and Lola. Jimmy returns from the afterlife as the Crow, an immortal vigilante who must come to terms with his new powers and the poisonous temptation of revenge, culminating in an epic battle between the Crow and the devil himself.

William Gibson Leaving Blog Behind
Wired reports William Gibson, author of Neuromancer, is going to give up the blog, out of fears that it might stifle his creative thinking about his next novel.

"I think it's in its last couple of weeks," he said. "I do know from doing it that it's not something I can do when I'm actually working. Somehow the ecology of writing novels wouldn't be able to exist if I'm in daily contact. The watched pot never boils," he added with a laugh.

Gibson began his hugely popular blog back in January. He's currently winding up his publicity tour for Pattern Recognition (Really Scary Highly Recommended!) and said to get to work on a new novel, he'll need to stop blogging. He does mention that he may pick it back up after his next novel is complete.

Chimera & Severin Sneak Read
The great Really Scary Sneak Reads looks keep rollin' in. The oh-so-twisted (and that's a good thing) horror author Hertzan Chimera just dropped us a line about a doozy of a book by Hertzan and Alex Severin. This one is just for the grown-ups. Here's Hertzan's letter:

"Readers can toddle off to this link (pdf) where they can download a FREE 3 story e-book. BOYFISTGIRLSUCK is causing a bit of a storm over there in the States where, at Shocklines Horror Distribution it was kept off the number one spot at its pre-order stage by none other than Dean R Koontz."

As well as being in great demand as a trade paperback from Massacre publishing, BFGS is also available in ebook format from Double Dragon Publishing of Canada

The Simpsons Meet Alias
TV Guide reports (via DH) that Jennifer Garner will do a guest voice for The Simpsons Halloween episode this October.

Nightmare on Elm Street Prequel?
Dark Horizons reports Robert Englund revealed his thoughts to BBC on the Freddy vs. Jason team-up project and the future of the franchise:

"Ronny would like to do a whole series of Freddy vs Jason movies. He believes this is the start of a new series. If it happens, great. I think we will all be back. We had such a great time on this movie, it's going to be far from a chore to draw everyone back for seconds.

"Who knows maybe we might even see another solo Freddy movie again, if that's what the fans want...Ronny has sort of taking on a new surrogate father role to Freddy Krueger and Jason, so if any more solo movies come along, he's already told the studio he wants first option on directing them. I've always thought a Freddy prequel would be a wonderful idea. That would be great fun, if only because I'll only be in make-up for like a quarter of the picture. Let's see how Freddy vs Jason does first thought before we get too excited. But yes, it's definitely something Ronny and I have been talking about."

Sigourney Talks a Little More Alien 5
DH reports while promoting Holes, Sigourney Weaver talked with The Chicago Sun Times about a further Alien adventure.

"Ridley Scott and I have talked about it a couple of times," Weaver said. "He has some ideas. If we developed a good script, I'd love to play Ripley again. I've always felt so grateful to Ridley Scott because he gave me my first job...The only thing I'm not interested in is going to earth. I saw that 'Star Trek' movie where they went to Earth and ... yawn. I think it's more fun to go to a foreign planet -- especially now. Who wants to come to Earth now? Let's go far, far away! Fantasy is what we need!"

Man-Thing Shooting Close to Kicking Off
Fango caught up with Marvel Studios Executive Vice President Kevin Feige today and got a progress report on the upcoming Marvel Studios horror project Man-Thing, which Feige will be producing. "We hope to shoot in Australia this summer," Feige says. "It's a very different kind of movie, a very small movie."

Man-Thing, about a swamp-wandering creature that defends nature againstÊtoxic criminals and has a fiery touch, is slated to be directed by Brett Leonard from a script by Hans Rodionoff. Marvel honcho Avi Arad had earlier suggested the film was to be shot in and around New Orleans doublingÊfor the Florida Everglades, but it was recently reported that the shoot would be heading Down Under.

"It's a very different feel for us," Feige said. "It's just sort of taking a character that has been very popular over the years within the comic audiences that's very well-known -- less so outside of that into the mainstream audiences -- and doing what we think will be a very unique horror film."

Kevin's latest project, X2, opens next Friday, May 2.

Update on Stephen King's Kingdom Mini
E! Online updates the status of the Stephen King 15-hour miniseries for ABC titled Kingdom Hospital. A series taking place inside a hospital that has been built on an ancient graveyard, it was originally intended to launch this season. It was pushed back though because King wanted to write every episode before production began -- imagine that, television writing integrity.

ABC has given the project a greenlight with casting scheduled to begin next month. The show, based on Danish director Lars von Trier TV soap series The Kingdom, will kick off January 2004 with a two-hour season premiere, followed by 13 one-hour episodes.

ABC programming execs have given the spookfest a tentative slot after Monday Night Football. Alternately, the show could be slated for Thursday nights, where King's former miniseries have done well for the Alphabet net.

Blair Witch Actor Enters Madhouse
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Joshua Leonard, best known for his work in The Blair Witch Project, will star in the horror-thriller Madhouse, which is scheduled to start in mid-May in Romania. The indie project, penned by director William Butler and Aaron Strongoni, centers on a young psychiatric intern who unearths dark secrets about the mental health facility in which he works. Jordan Ladd will play a nurse at the hospital.

There is no domestic distributor yet on board.

Matrix Sequels on Imax!
The Matrix sequels are coming to a big and bigger screen near you. THR reports large-screen theater operator Imax said The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, will be released on Imax's 15frames-per-second/70mm screen format to accompany the standard theatrical releases debuting this year.

Using Imax's new Digital Re-mastering (DMR) technology that allows 35mm films to be transferred to the larger format without compromising quality, the Imax version of Andy and Larry Wachowski The Matrix Reloaded will open two to three weeks after the film's May 15 release in 35mm. Warner Bros. Pictures president of domestic distribution Dan Fellman said Warners is looking at June 6 for the Imax release. The Imax version of The Matrix Revolutions will bow day and date with the film's Nov. 5 theatrical release, marking the first time a Hollywood event film is released concurrently in both formats.

Cameron Talks Alien 5
Aliens director James Cameron told Empire Online (via Sci Fi) that's he interested in developing -- but not helming -- a fifth film in the popular SF franchise. "We're definitely looking at another Alien film, but that wouldn't be something I'd be directing," he told the site. "I'm just going to be writing and producing that one."

Cameron added that he's interested in developing a movie adaptation of Anne Rice's supernatural novel Ramses The Damned (also titled The Mummy). Cameron would not direct this film either and said he's waiting for the right time. "We've been holding off, because of the two Mummy films that Universal did," he said. "Although they're very different tonally, they are very much in the same area code in terms of the imagery you'd see."

Gilliam Leaving Good Omens for Grimm
Producer Charles Roven told Sci Fi Wire that director Terry Gilliam will leave Good Omens, which he was previously directing for Roven, to helm The Brothers Grimm. "I think Terry will unofficially detach, at least for the time being, from Good Omens and let Renaissance try to make that movie with another creative team," Roven said in an interview.

Grimm mixes fantasy and history to tell the story of Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, the famous fairy-tale brothers. The script was drafted by Ehren Kruger, but Roven said Gilliam would add his own perspective to the film. "He will definitely give it the Gilliam-esque spin, and I think it'll be a feast visually," he said. "It's a terrific story and definitely underscores how important believing in miracles...believing in fairy tales...is to everyday life."

Gilliam's last film, The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, fell apart weeks into production. But Roven is confident he can bounce back with Grimm. "I think this one is sort of on the downhill leg of at least getting into production," he said. Roven added that he hopes to begin production in June.

Good Omens is based on the fantasy novel by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman.

Zombie Working on New Horror Flick & Comic!
Creature Corner reports a site called Suicide Girls (very adult and very not work safe) recently spoke with Rob Zombie to see what he's up to now that House of 1,000 Corpes has hit theaters.

"I'm working on another horror movie," Zombie said. "It's totally different from House of 1000 Corpses. I'm starting a line of comic books finally."

When asked if he would be drawing the comics, he said unfortunately he doesn't have the time. But good news for any knowledgable comicbook fans out there, Zombie says Gene Colan (Tomb of Dracula) will take on some of the artistic duties for the book called Spookshow International. The first issue is slated to hit stands in August. Zombie describes it as four different horror stories that continue through each issue.
