The Resurrection Game Wraps Principal Photography
We just got an update from the folks over at Happy Cloud Pictures.

Just a bit of information: THE RESURRECTION GAME, the first feature film from Happy Cloud Pictures, has finished principal photography and has officially entered into post-production. Described as a cross between L.A. Confidential and Dawn of the Dead, THE RESURRECTION GAME is about a world over-run by zombies, and the private detective who is hired to find the cause of this undead infestation. Teaming up with a discredited scientist and a pair of bickering zombie exterminators, our heroes find themselves up against a multinational corporation that may be responsible for more than just the walking dead.

The film stars Ray Yeo, Kristin Pfeifer, Francis Veltri, Amy Lynn Best and Bill Homan, and features cameo appearances by Debbie Rochon (American Nightmare) and Roxanne Michaels (Stumped). Produced by Amy Lynn Best and Bill Homan. Written and Directed by Mike Watt. More information can be found at the official site at http://www.geocities.com/happycloudprod/

Sheesh...Not Again.
Looks like that earlier rumor from Dark Horizons about DarkUFO's involvement with The Matrix II is not true. That's twice this week we've been taken on the 'rumor' front. We'll stick with the news from those we know for a while and see if we can ride out this wave of misinformation aka bullshit. (Although we will add we listened to some of DarkUFO's stuff over at MP3.com after we heard this rumor. Not bad but not Matrix sequel stuff either.)

Children of the Living Dead Update
We throw out a request and you guys totally come through...as always! Walter dropped us a line and passed along what he dug up on Children of the Living Dead:

Here is what I know from when the entire cast and crew invaded the message boards at the old www.georgearomero.com.

John (?) Russo (NOTLD 30th Anniversary) producing and writer. Tor Ramsey director. Tom Savini star. Has to do with children of zombie bitten parents. There are several character zombies and the SFX were done by some of the guys that did some effects for the film Dogma. Not in any way related to the Romero Living Dead movies, just using the namesake.

More info can be found on Tom Savini's web site.

That's all I know.

That's a ton, thanks Walter!

VH1 Picks Up Strange Frequency Series
VH1 is expanding their original progam lineup. Strange Frequency, a scripted, filmed horror anthology, has been picked up for eight half-hour episodes/ VH1 last year commissioned a two-hour Strange Frequency that featured four separate stories.

And You Thought Jason Was Bad...
The Detroit Free Press reported the following yesterday:

Sound asleep in their bunks, boys at Camp Ozanam were awakened by a hooded man. Other men wore horror-movie masks.

These were the camp counselors.

They pulled a boy, or maybe two, from their beds and hauled them to the lake, according to a sheriff's report. One crying boy begged, "Please stop, please stop, please stop."

The hooded man answered, "I will kill you. I will kill you."

The counselors said it was meant as a prank.

But some boys were so scared, they barricaded their cabin doors with mattresses and cots. Grant LeDee, then 9, still has nightmares. "We stayed awake all night to protect ourselves," he recalled.

The camp, written up by state regulators, fired the counselors and called the Sanilac County sheriff. Camp officials said the episode last July was unfortunate but isolated, and said they've tightened oversight.

Other problems at area camps have ranged from counselors tying up children and hanging them from poles upside down or threw them in a river as part of a "game" to get them to admit their belief in God. At another, counselors assaulted campers, including one who repeatedly attacked children with a stun gun.

Horror Prop Auction Going On
Horror movie fans with some dough (unfortunately that's not us) are gonna want to check out an online auction featuring props from films such as Nightmare on Elm Street, The Shining, Species, The Abyss, and more.

One of Hollywood's top special effects houses, XFX Studios, owned by Steve Johnson, has come to Butterfields and eBay to offer these one-of-a-kind movie props, collectible costumes, and animatronics. The auction started April 17 at www.ebay.com/xfx. The auctions will continue in a series of week-long auctions for six months.

Some of the stuff? Here 'tis:

  • The "SIL" character stunt mask from Species II, est. $10,000/15,000
  • Animatronic heads and spider droids from Virus, est. $2,500/3,500 each
  • Masks from The Shining, est. $250/350 each
  • Talking animatronic corpse from The Stand, est. $5,000/7,000
  • Working sketches from Anaconda, Species, Species II,

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, a non-profit organization dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's Disease.

Neil Gaiman's Death Script Turned-In
The script for the Death: The High Cost of Living movie is finished. According to Cinescape, in a posting on scribe/creator Neil Gaiman's own American Gods webpage's Journal section, the writer said, "The Death movie script has been handed in." Gaiman has also previously revealed that he is directing the eventual film, which has, as yet, no start date.

Anchor Bay Ditching Suspira Tin Plans
HorrorDVDs reports Anchor Bay has scrapped plans to release a Suspiria: Limited Edition tin. Instead they'll be releasing a limited edition 2-disc DVD.

Nightmare on Elm Street Prequel?
13th Street reports they've heard tale of a new script being turned in at New Line Cinema, one that would take us back before the events of A Nightmare on Elm Street. Their anonymous source went on to say that the script, written by writers Anna Miller and Fred Vicarel, is considered a prequel to the first Nightmare movie.

As the Jason X World Turns
Wheee! More freakin' Jason X changes. DH reports New Line has confirmed that Jason X is no longer locked in for August 17th and that no new date has been set in 2001 so it'll either be next year or direct to video.

This was in direct contrast to a recent Diabolical Dominion report earlier in the week that said the project was completely still on schedule and would absolutely, positively not be a direct to video. But the next day Diabolical Dominion checked in with the New Line site again and the release date had been pulled and replaced with Coming Soon. Looks like New Line is jerking everyone around...how about a little respect for the fans?

In other Jason X news, Corona reports they've been told that a figure of the new, improved Jason will be coming out in the future from Todd McFarlane Toys.

Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetle...
According to Dark Horizons, Cinefantastique reports that a prequel to the dark Tim Burton comedy Beetlejuice will finally be made and focus on three things: Beetlejuice's life before death, a task for the Grim Reaper and him going Hawaiian.

New Chucky?!?! He's Your Friend to the End!
We're checking some more into this one but apparently Entertainment Weekly has a report that Don Mancini is at work on a fifth Child's Play screenplay. According to Entertainment Weekly (via DH), this sequel plans on spooging another sequel...Hannibal. Jennifer Tilly will return as both Tiffany the Doll and the human Tiffany's twin (who's the main character).
