Gellar Not Leaving Buffy...Even If It Moves to Fox
Sarah Michelle Gellar changed her recent statement regarding leaving Buffy. Just days after she put out an ultimatitum that if Buffy the Vampire Slayer left the WB, it would do so without her, The Los Angeles Times reported (via Horror Online) that Gellar has since "clarified" herself by saying, "I'm not going anywhere, and I can't stress that enough. I just said it in passing, and it was only meant to show my appreciation and support for the WB. But Fox [the show's producer] has been very good to me too. I intend to stay with Buffy no matter what."

Freddy Says Freddy Vs. Jason is a Go
In a recent interview with Horror Online, Now, Robert Englund said Freddy Vs. Jason is getting going and is going to be written and directed by David S. Goyer,

"It’s a definite. It’s a greenlight. It won’t happen until after the strike and until after Jason X comes out (in August). Rob Bottin was pulled (off as director) because of budget problems. Then I believe they were going to go with Guillermo Del Toro, who I love. I loved Cronos and Mimic. But he’s busy with Blade 2. Now I think that one of the guys who wrote the first Blade is rewriting Freddy Vs. Jason. And I believe that part of his deal is that he’s also going to direct it. So, Freddy Vs. Jason probably won’t even start until the end of 2001."

Interview with Sleepaway Camp's Felissa Rose
The always cool Tom Wescott over at Slasher Mansion just dropped us this great piece of news:

I very recently did an interview with Felissa Rose, the actress best known as 'Angela' from the original Sleepaway Camp, who is also involved in the upcoming Return to Sleepaway Camp. She was pretty tight lipped about the sequel (part 4 in the series) but did let me know that it will be filmed in New York, probably around Fall/Winter, and will be "great and gory."

As far as her participation as an actress she says, "I'm involved in the project, but still negotiating as a participant." She said that Robert Hiltzik (director of the original) has not done any casting yet, and the finances for the film are still being negotiated.

Check out Tom's entire interview at Slasher Mansion.

Stephen King Suing Insurance Company
Reuters reports Stephen King, still recovering from an accident nearly two years ago, is suing his insurance company over a $10 million policy covering medical bills and lost income, his lawyer said Tuesday.

King and his wife, Tabitha, alleged that The Commercial Union York Insurance Co. improperly paid them after the writer was hit by a van while walking along a Maine road on June 19, 1999. The Kings believe they should get the full $10 million but have not received that amount.

The Kings filed the lawsuit Thursday to force the company to make good on the policy in Penobscot County Superior Court in Bangor, Maine. The insurance company could not be reached for comment.

King had his right side crushed when the Dodge Caravan driven by Bryan Smith struck him, his lawyer Warren Silver said. Silver said the $10 million insurance policy will not cover all of King's losses from the accident and he estimated medical bills, future surgeries and lost writing income as a result of the accident would add up to between $65 million and $75 million.

"You can't write when you're totally incapacitated," Silver told Reuters. "Basically, he had five surgeries to rebuild his right side."

King, 53, faces more operations, Silver said.

"He is still experiencing pain on a daily basis," Silver said. "It is the position of the King family that these policies should cover this injury and financial loss."

Shadow of the Vampire Online Comic Strip
Gizmoz, Inc. and Lions Gate Entertainment announced they will promote Lions Gate Films' Shadow of the Vampire via Gizmoz's "Smart Envelope" technology. The Shadow of the Vampire Gizmo, narrated by the film's producer, Nicolas Cage, contains an episodic Flash animated Shadow of the Vampire comic strip that will be updated weekly for users who collect the Gizmo.

"The 'Shadow of the Vampire' Gizmo marks our entry into the world of feature films," said Eyal Gever, co-founder and CEO of Gizmoz, Inc. "We believe that Gizmoz will create a network of fans that Lions Gate can continue their relationship with for the promotion of additional films, sales of videos, DVD's and film-related merchandise."

"The viral capacity of the Gizmo is tremendously appealing to us," said Tom Ortenberg, President of Lions Gate Films' Releasing. "Fans of the film's cast, the horror genre and silent classics like 'Nosferatu' will actively participate in the marketing, sending the 'Shadow of the Vampire' Gizmo to their friends and collecting it to their desktops."

Those interested in obtaining the "Shadow of the Vampire" Gizmo can get it at www.gizmoz.com/site1/default.asp and the Lion's Gate Films' site at www.lionsgatefilms.com.

Crouching Tiger Action Figure News
With Toy Fair 2001 going on this week, we'll be digging around for all the cool action figure news. And for those of you that aren't as obsessed with toys as we are, please bear with us, we'll keep going after the regular horror news that's near and dear to us too!

Now, back to the toys! Tomart reports that Art Asylum (the guys that brought us that incredible Silent Screamers line) is going to produce figures based on Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. We're all very happy for the recent Crouching Tiger Oscar nominations, but that doesn't hold a candle to action figures! We are definitely diggin' it...now, if we could only afford it.

The First One Was Good, Why Wouldn't the Second One Be?
Since the teeny Kubricks action figure line sold successfully for the first Blair Witch Project, why not BWP2? (Well, we could probably thing of a reason or two...)

Action Figure Times hit Toy Fair 2001 in NYC yesterday and came back with a shot of the latest littlest, evilest toy line -- Blair Witch Project 2 Kubricks. Click here.

They also got a good look at the Mad Hatter action figure from the video game American McGees's. An overtly dark and twisted look at Alice in Wonderland. We toss in the word overt since most folks already realize that the original was a pretty dark and twisted tale in its own right. Click here for a look.

New Steven Seagle Vertigo Work Begins
Zen reports Writer Steven T. Seagle (House of Secrets, X-Men) makes his return to comics this week with The Crusades: Urban Decree, a Prestiege Format one-shot introducing his and artist Kelly Jones' new Vertigo series launching in March.

The series involves the arrival of a violent 11th century Crusader who shows up in 21st century San Francisco to render a terrible judgment, and the effect his arrival has on our modern society.
