Synapse DVD Release Updates
Synapse recently ran this update (via HorrorDVDs):

Beast from Haunted Cave - The authoring has started, but I might have some work done with the audio because the film was so low budget. I am going to try and improve upon the audio any way I can to just make it a bit cleaner. We are working on the cover right now.

Fatal Frames - The first check disc has been received and there were some navigational issues that are currently being resolved. The cover is done and everything will be going to press as soon as I receive the 2nd check disc with the changes I requested.

A Better Place - The authoring is about to begin. We had massive delays because of LucasFilm, the perfectionists that they are, taking great care in making sure everything was perfect with the new audio mix. I am extremely happy with it and you will be too. The only problem is that the additional scenes seem to have "vanished" mysteriously within the bowels of Skywalker. We may have to resort to Avid outputs for the additional scenes if they cannot be found.

Triumph of the Will - The authoring is in progress and the cover is being completed. All the subtitling is complete and the commentary is synced to the image. The cover is completed and we are getting the liner notes ready this week (week of December 31st).

After these titles are released, we will begin work on the following DVD titles for 2001 (keep in mind, though, that these titles are not announced yet):

Jess Franco’s Exorcism (Producer’s Cut)
Cold Hearts (Special Edition)
Street Trash (Special Edition)
Entrails of the Virgin (We JUST got this one a few weeks ago.)
The Deli (Special Edition)

Friday the 13th DVD Set & Pet Sematary 2 DVD News
HorrorDVDs.com has picked up some great news regarding Paramount horror DVD plans. A Friday the 13th special edition DVD box set is under consideration over at Paramount, but it definitely will not happen until all the movies have been released individually. The box set would contain the Friday the 13th movies with special edition content on them (probably won't be labeled special editions since Paramount doesn't do that...at least not yet).

As for when the rest of the Friday the 13th movies will be released individually, HororDVDs says to expect the same pattern we've seen for the last two years. Two in Halloween 2001 - Parts 5 and 6, then two in Halloween 2002 - Parts 7 and 8. That puts a possible Friday the 13th box set two to three years away.

Seeing uncut versions is unknown at this point, but they're aware many fans want to see this.

They've also found out that work has begun on Pet Sematary 2 for an eventual DVD release, which we should see this Halloween. Unfortunately, there's no plans at the moment for a My Bloody Valentine DVD.

Cast Addition to Arac Attack
Doug E. Doug is the latest addition to the cast of Centropolis/Warner Bros. Arac Attack, according to Variety (via Cinescape). The trade does not report what part Doug will be playing in the coming sci fi comedy thriller about spiders turning into giant rampaging killers after a toxic spill. The film will star David Arquette and Kari Wuhrer.

Diablo II: Lord of Destruction Title Set
Blizzard unveiled on Thursday the name for the upcoming expansion for Diablo II, titling it Diablo II: Lord of Destruction. The expansion pack is due out during in the first half of the year. The expansion picks up right where Diablo II left off; players, following the path of Baal, will travel into the Barbarian Highlands where they will encounter hordes of demons and monsters. They must then stop Baal before he destroys the Worldstone that protects the mortal plane from Hell. Lord of Destruction will introduce two new character classes (the Assassin and the Druid) and a new act, along with six additional quests. The add-on will feature thousands of new magical items and nearly 250 additional Unique and Exceptional items. Blizzard expects Lord of Destruction to retail around $30 when it is released. A Mac version of the expansion is due out this summer.

Mucho Mojo in Mucho Limbo Again
Daily Variety reports (via Dr. Casey) New Line Cinema's production of Mucho Mojo is apparently in limbo. Ted Tally has turned in his screenplay for the film, which is based on Joe Lansdale's novel of the same name, but the trade reports that cameras aren't likely to roll on the film before the writers and actors strike deadline.
