Universal Picks Up New Thriller Pitch

Variety reports Universal has made a preemptive buy on a thriller pitch by scribe Daniel Noah. Daniel Bobker and Ehren Kruger will produce the high-concept crime drama for the U-based shingle, which is currently prepping ghost thriller Dream House for lensing later this year.

Noah received low six figures to pen the script. Producers are keeping mum on the details about the story, which the scribe would only describe as a blend of genre movie elements with a character-driven drama.

Nolan is set to begin lensing in the late spring or early summer. Pic is eying a summer 2008 release.

Craig & Ledger Both Up for the Role of the Devil

The New York Times reports both Daniel Craig (latest James Bond) and Heath Ledger are up for the role of Satan in a film adaptation of John Milton's poem Paradise Lost. The film, likely to be directed by Scott Derickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose) according to Dark Horizons, is based on the 17th-century epic poem, which tells the story of Lucifer's fall and the temptation of Adam and Eve.

The writers are reportedly moving away from the Milton text a bit and favoring the war or archangels.
