Irish Filmmakers Get Boost on Low Budget Nailed

Ireland's Belfast Telegraph reports a low-budget horror film being shot in Belfast has received a major boost from a top American movie producer. Nailed - written and directed by Belfast locals Stephen McAnena and Adrian O'Connell - came to the attention of Ben Katz, who is currently in Belfast shooting the film Johnny Was.

Katz was so impressed with McAnena's script, he offered to lend several actors to the Belfast-based movie. Charles Porter, Sam Sarpong and Wilson Heredia, are now dividing their time between gangster movie Johnny Was and Nailed, which is being shot in Cavehill, north Belfast.

To facilitate the U.S. actors, the original script had to be quickly rewritten to feature a Brooklyn backdrop, rather than Belfast.

Stephen said: "It's a bit of a psycho-thriller centering on two petty criminals who break into an old house and find a man bandaged up on a bed, being looked after by a sinister carer.

"Things aren't how they seem and start to go wrong for the two main men. There are lots of flashbacks and deja vu and it's all very supernatural.

"I had to turn the script round very quickly but we're delighted that Ben's come on board.

"Hopefully it will be completed and edited by November and then we'll start looking for someone to distribute it."

"Do you know what's Really Scary? You want to forget something. Totally wipe it off your mind. But you never can. It can't go away, you see. And... and it follows you around like a ghost."
