    Fox Picks Up Film Rights for Emily the Strange 

    Variety reports Twentieth Century Fox has acquired rights to the character Emily the Strange and will make a feature film that mixes live-action with animation.

    We dropped the Emily team a line and Rob Reger, Creator and Monstermind of Emily Strange (kickass job title) and Buzz Parker, Emily Strange Illustrator got back with some more info.

    "The movie will be a definitive way to peer into the secret life of Emily the Strange," Reger said. "For now, pay close attention to the new comic book published by Dark Horse, and the website EmilyStrange.com for clues."

    Emily the Strange is a rail-thin 13-year-old whose clothes are as black as her hair and as dark as the tone of her adventures. Reger hatched this symbol of anti-cool in 1993 through promotional stickers, skateboards and T-shirts that he distributed from his garage.

    "A big screen Emily movie has been in the makes for several years," Parker said. "We're excited that this is one step closer to sur-reality."

    Emily has grown into a multimillion-dollar industry, including an apparel line, three books published by Chronicle Books and an upcoming quarterly from Dark Horse Comics. Click here for more.
