The Fog & Halloween Rumors Ain't It Cool News has a couple of horror flick rumors. Dunno if these are the real deal though. First up, Chris Isaak may be making an appearance in the remake of John Carpenter's The Fog. Apparently, he mentioned it to a fan during a recent signing.
Next up in our rumor roulette is a teeny bit about the next Halloween sequel (which is just a pitiful mess of a franchise these days but we digress). Michelle Williams may be returning to Michael Myers land. We'll keep you posted.

Wes Craven's Cursed Soundtrack Moviehole reports Collective Soul has been confirmed as the band behind the theme song to the new Wes Craven pic Cursed, opening in February.
The group's Better Now will be on CD, which should be in shops two weeks before the movie opens. Soul also did the theme track to Craven's Scream 2 a few years back.
The track listing for the soundtrack also includes titles by Days Grace, Dashboard Confessional, The Crystal Method, Bowling For Soup, and composer Marco Beltrami.
"I'm a huge Wes Craven fan, all the way back to the first Nightmare On Elm Street," says Treadstone Records President Jonathan Platt. "The lineup of artists we were able to bring to the project is fantastic. And, of course, the soundtracks to the Scream movies were very successful, and we’ve got a shot at duplicating that."
"The Cursed soundtrack captures the young, fresh, hip spirit that made the Scream soundtracks such all-around winners," says Randy Spendlove, President Of Motion Picture Music for Miramax.

FX Dust Caused Fire on Desperation Movie Set KVOA, a Tuscon TV news station, reports fire investigators say that special effects dust being used on the set of the Stephen King miniseries Desperation was ignited by halogen lights, causing the 3-alarm blaze inside the Tucson Convention Center last Friday.
Investigators are calling this an accident because the special effects dust was not supposed to be flammable. As for the cost of the accident, it's much higher than initially reported, now it's an estimated two million dollars.
Although smoke is still caked on the walls and ceilings inside the TCC, other damage is invisible and won't be repaired for weeks. Murder-Set-Pieces Premiering Christmas Eve Black Watch Cinema announced that Murder-Set-Pieces will open at The Vine Theatre at 6321 Hollywood Blvd on Christmas Eve, followed by a Jan. 7 opening at NYC's Cinema Village East.

Writer/Director Adapting Gaiman's Coraline Henry Selick told Sci Fi Wire that he'll write and direct a big-screen adaptation of Coraline, based on the children's fantasy novel by Neil Gaiman. Selick, an animator and director who specializes in stop-motion animation, is best known for The Nightmare Before Christmas, James and the Giant Peach and Monkeybone.
"Neil Gaiman approached me to ask if I'd like to get on board the project before it was published," Selick said in an interview while promoting his latest film, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. "That was three and a half years ago."
Selick added, "I saw the galleys and took it to Bill Mechanic, the producer, and convinced them both to give me a crack at writing it. It took a year and a half for me to actually get a draft that worked."
Selick described Coraline as an Alice in Wonderland-esque story. "A little girl discovers a passageway in her house where [there's] kind of a mirror of her own life where her other mother and other father live. And it's a fantastic world that's been created for her. You think it's about making a choice between her normal boring life or this other world where this other version of her mother, this much better version, [lives]. Everything is set up to please her, but really it's more of a spider's-web trap for children. It's very scary and dark and fun."

Fire Breaks Out on Set of Desperation AP reports fire broke out at the Tucson Convention Center during shooting of Desperation, the television movie based on the Stephen King novel. Five people were reported injured and the fire forcing the evacuation of thousands arriving for a concert in another part of the building.
"They were in the middle of a scene involving a mine shaft collapse," said Deputy Fire Chief Randy Ogden.
Three people were taken to hospitals for treatment of burns and injuries caused by falling debris, and one remained hospitalized Saturday, Ogden said. Two others were treated for smoke inhalation, according to fire officials.
It damaged the set, which was made to look like a mine shaft, but not the convention center.
"Most of the damage is to just the movie stuff - the tunnel itself, film, movie equipment," Ogden said.
Firefighters were trying to find film and audio footage to help determine how the blaze began, Ogden said. He said he thought at least three cameras had been rolling, but he did not know whether the footage was intact. Preliminary damage estimates ranged from $750,000 to $1 million, he said.

Saw DVD Release Date Set Saw, the low-budget psychological thriller that generated much buzz at movie theaters recently, is slated to hit video retail shelves Feb. 15, amid the post-holiday sales season.
The film, which cost less then $2 million to make, has generated about $53.2 million at the box office. It stars Cary Elwes, Danny Glover, Monica Potter and Leigh Whannel. Rookie director James Wan collaborated with actor-screenwriter Whannel of The Matrix Reloaded fame, to create a story about a sociopathic killer who tortures his victims by pitting them against one another in a horrific mental and physical battle for survival.
The film's North American distributor, Lions Gate Entertainment, said it plans to execute its largest marketing campaign to date -- committing about $10 million to the Saw home video effort.
"The response we've received from retailers for the 'Saw' DVD has been broad and dramatic," said Lions Gate president Steve Beeks. "Not only have the major DVD retailers committed to very aggressive orders for 'Saw' but the rental-retailers are committing to big numbers as well."
The DVD will include a commentary by Wan and the screenwriters; an "On the Set" featurette, Fear Factory's "Bite the Hand That Bleeds" music video, the making of "Bite the Hand That Bleeds," trailers and TV spots. [Source: THR]

Preview Pics from The Ring 2 Below are a couple of preview shots from the shooting of The Ring Two. First shows Naomi Watts with director Hideo Nakata. And the second shows Watts in a well...they assure us this is from the sequel and not the first film.
Here's the synopsis: Naomi Watts reprises the role of investigative reporter Rachel Keller in The Ring Two. Hideo Nakata, the director of the original Japanese blockbuster Ringu upon which The Ring was based, directed The Ring Two, which marks his American film debut.
The story picks up six months after the horrifying events that terrorized Rachel Keller and her son Aidan (David Dorfman) in Seattle. To escape her haunting memories, Rachel takes Aidan and moves to the small coastal community of Astoria, Oregon, to start fresh. However, Rachel's resolve quickly turns to dread when evidence at a local crime scene -- including an unmarked videotape -- seems eerily familiar. Rachel realizes that the vengeful Samara is back and more determined than ever to continue her relentless cycle of terror and death.
It's slated to hit theaters March 18, 2005.
Screenwriter Talks About Adapting Ketchum's Red Dread Central reports that although May director Lucky McKee's next film The Woods isn't hitting theaters until late 2005, fans can take heart that he's already thinking about one of his future projects, Red, an adaptation of the Jack Ketchum novel of the same name.
Dread Central spoke with Stephen Susco, screenwriter of this year's translation of Takashi Shimizu's The Grudge and the cinematic adaptation of Red.
Although they attended USC around the same time, the working partnership between Susco and McKee didn't begin until they discovered a mutual respect for Ketchum's source material. "It was basically a situation where Lucky and I sort've had the same vision for what Red could be and chased down the guy who owned the rights," Susco explains. "We knew that this wasn't the kind of thing that you could get someone to buy. I just really believed in it enough and said I'd write the script and we'd go from there."
Susco is also at work on a remake of Prom Night for Neal H. Moritz as well as the Grudge sequel for Sam Raimi.
